Police Minister, Nathi Mthetwa, has reportedly said that farms were not special and do not deserve to have more police focus than any other area in the country.
Sapa reports that Mthethwa made the remarks during a New Age newspaper business breakfast briefing in Johannesburg on Thursday.
He reportedly said that what he had refused to accede to was the idea that farms were special areas.
However, he said that they were part and parcel of the rural safety plan which aims to deal with crime and violence in the "totality" of rural areas including rural villages.
Earlier this month, the lobby group AfriForum said Mthethwa's silence on farm attacks bordered on collusion.
