The Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries has urged all farmers who bought any livestock from an auctioneer from Limpopo to come forward.
This follows the arrest of an auctioneer from the Province who is accused of transporting animals infected with foot and mouth disease from quarantined farms in the Molemole district to unaffected areas.
The 30-year-old Sors Snyman allegedly offered to sell livestock for the farmers in restricted areas, on their behalf.
A spokesperson for the Department Reggie Ngcobo urged farmers or any member of the public who dealt with Snyman to come forward so that the outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease can be dealt with once and for all.
He said certain farmers are also implicated and more arrests are expected as the investigation is ongoing.
At present 16 farms in the province are currently under quarantine.
Snyman was released on bail of R10 000 and must be back in court on the 23rd of March.
Ngcobo said the temporary ban on the movement of animals for auctions is still in place, nationwide.
The Department is also conducting controlled slaughters on the affected farms in their attempts to stop the outbreak.
South Africa's current outbreak of Foot and Mouth is costing the country billions.
