Police have issued a stern warning to the public that they will not tolerate dishonest actions when it comes to applying for employment in the SAPS organisation.
This follows the arrest of five suspects who allegedly submitted fraudulent Grade 12 certificates when they applied for Constable positions advertised in 2022/2023.
Northern Cape Police spokesperson Brigadier Mashay Gameldien says it was the alertness of the recruitment personnel that led them to question the authenticity of the documents.
She says this led to the team approaching the Department of Education and UMALUSI to validate the certificates presented to SAPS.
Once they could not be verified the case was referred to the Provincial Anti-Corruption unit which led to the arrest of the two women and three men.
They made their first appearance in the Kimberley court earlier this week.
