Eskom CEO, Brian Dames, has appealed to consumers to use electricity sparingly this winter.
He was speaking at a media briefing on Friday alongside Public Enterprises Minister, Malusi Gigaba.
Dames said the system will be tight in June and July because some power plants will be taken off the grid for maintenance.
He says they are appealing to consumers to heed energy saving measures - particularly at night and during peak periods.
Dames also warned about illegal connections putting strain on Eskom.
