The Films and Publications Board has slapped an age restriction of 16 on any further depiction of the controversial painting of president Jacob Zuma, titled The Spear.
The Board made its announcement this morning in response to a complaint.
The complaint was lodged amid the furore that erupted over the painting by artist Brett Murray.
The chairperson of the Films and Publications Board, Thoko Mpum-lwana, says their classifaction committee had decided that the artwork should carry a rating of 16N.
She says any persons or entities wishing to publish and exhibit images or replicas of this specific artwork will in future have to put mechanisms in place to regulate access to it by people under the age of 16.
