Eskom said it would reduce loadshedding to Stage 1 from 6 AM to 11 PM on Sunday.
The power utility said the recovery in the emergency generation reserves has shown significant progress.
However, it said it was necessary to continue with loadshedding in order to fully recover the emergency generation reserves ahead of the coming week.
“We currently have 7 914MW on planned maintenance, while another 10 468MW of capacity is unavailable due to unplanned maintenance,” the power utility said.
It said teams continue to work around the clock to return as many of these units to service as soon as possible.
Eskom requested South Africans to continue using electricity sparingly in order to help us limit the impact of loadshedding.
