Eskom has implemented Stage 4 load shedding from 12pm on Saturday.
The power utility said it’s due to the loss of additional power station units, and the loss of an additional 900 MW from its Mozambique imports.
Stage 2 load shedding was implemented at 8 o'clock on Saturday morning, and it was increased to Stage 3 at 10am.
Eskom implemented Stage 2 load shedding on Friday, and said that it would continue throughout the weekend, but added that the risk of power cuts remained high until at least the middle of next week.
