Eleven people shot and injured during cash in transit heist in Gauteng

Gauteng police have launched a manhunt for 10 armed suspects who shot and wounded 11 people, including nine elderly people, during a heist at Shoshanguve Mall north of Pretoria.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, says the gang struck shortly after six on Wednesday morning, attacked personnel from Fidelity Guards while they were transporting money to a pension point.

He says of those elderly people wounded, nine were women and two were men, while two security guards were also wounded in the heist in which several shots were fired.

The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money and abandoned a BMW vehicle before they fled the scene in unknown vehicles.
