Eleven people have been killed following a head-on collision on the N1 near the Verkeerdevlei Toll Plaza.
The accident involving a truck and minibus taxi reportedly happened at 3 am on Monday morning.
A spokesperson for Free State EMS Sipho Towa says the road has been closed in both directions.
He says the 11th victim's body was retrieved from underneath the taxi by emergency personnel.
Four of the deceased were children.
Towa says the truck driver escaped unharmed while several people in the taxi sustained critical injuries.
