The National Prosecuting Authority said two Egyptian nationals, appeared in the Cullinan Magistrate’s Court on Friday for the murder of three priests from the Coptic Orthodox Church.
NPA regional spokesperson, Lumka Mahanjana, said 37-year-old Monk Saeed Basonda and 47-year-old priest Samuel Avamarkos, were arrested for the murders on 12 March.
The bodies of the three priests, who were stabbed to death, were found a worker reporting for duty.
She said the two were subsequently questioned and arrested.
The case against the two was postponed to 28 March, with the NPA indicating that the state would oppose any bail application.
