The higher education transformation network says it has noted what it terms "publicity stunts" by Free State University rector, Jonathan Jansen.
The alumni body was responding to Jansen's latest remark, in which he was reported to have said that he wished Nelson Mandela would die.
Spokesperson, Reginald Legwabe says despite Jansen's denials about making the comment, the association has noted a trend in recent years where Jansen has made constant irresponsible utterances, in particular against minister Blade Nzimande.
"We feel shameful amnesty was given to people who were not really remorseful that incident was a symptom of underlying issues and had to be addressed. We feel that he missed an opportunity to address transformation issues at the University of the Free State" Legwabe said.
