GCIS

Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni says the economy will be the main focus of the weekend's two-day cabinet lekgotla.

She spoke at the start of the two-day meeting on Saturday, which President Cyril Ramaphosa convened at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guest House in Pretoria.

The historic gathering brought together a diverse group of 76 members, comprising 32 ministers and 43 deputy ministers, from nine political parties.

She reiterated that economic growth and job creation remained the top priorities for the seventh administration.

The lekgotla will be attended by leaders from all three spheres of government, including ministers, deputy ministers, premiers, directors-general, and representatives from the South African Local Government Association.

Experts from various sectors, including electricity, health and education, will also provide updates at the meeting.
