EC Premier condemns killing of Qumbu family

Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane has condemned the brutal killing of four family members on Thursday evening at Nyanisweni Locality, in Sulenkama, Qumbu.

According to provincial police spokesperson Tembinkosi Kinana police responded to reports of a shooting incident in the locality at around 8 pm.

On arrival on the scene they were shown the bodies of four family members in a rondavel with gunshots wounds to their upper bodies.

They've been named as 60-year-old Limasile Tshwane, 52-year-old Bulelani, 15-year-old Nqobile and 15-year-old Unako Tshwane.

Kinana said no arrests have been made at this stage and the motive for the shootings is unknown.

Mabuyane has called on law enforcement agencies to take swift action against the perpetrators of the shooting incidents which left four male family members dead.

“As a province, we are saddened by this incident. It is concerning that violent crimes continue to terrorise our communities in this way and law enforcement must use all resources to hunt down perpetrators of this crime, arrest them and bring them before the courts of law,” said Mabuyane.
