Two Dutch nationals have been arrested at OR Tambo International Airport for having a large quantity of the drug Khat.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Amanda van Wyk, said the Dutch nationals, aged 21 and 59, were arrested in separate incidents on Tuesday and Wednesday.
She said police seized a total of 80 kilograms of Khat in their possession.
Van Wyk said the two were travelling from South Africa to the Netherlands via Dubai.
She said these arrests bring to 13, the number of suspected drug traffickers arrested at OR Tambo in the past few weeks.
The use of Khat is illegal in South- Africa as it is a protected plant.
