A Durban woman has given birth to a set of twin girls on the side of the road.
ER-24 says its believed the woman was on her way to hospital when her waters broke and she started having contractions.
Spokesperson, Derrick Banks, picks up the story when his paramedics arrived to assist the woman and her husband who were on a verge on the N-2 just past Umgeni Road.
"The paramedics arrived on the scene and found the woman outside of the car sitting on the verge,"he said.
"The woman who is in her late thirties had just delivered the babies as the paramedics arrived. They assisted her in the rest of the birth on the side of the road, making sure mother and twin baby girls were in good health. They transported mother and babies to King Edward Hospital in a stable condition where the maternity staff took over the medical care."
"It is believed that the woman was on her way to the hospital when he water broke and started having contractions," Banks said.
