A 30-year-old suspect has been arrested at his home in Durbanville, Cape Town for dealing in drugs, following a joint intelligence-driven operation by the Hawks’ Narcotics Enforcement Bureau, Crime Intelligence and SARS Custom Officials.

Hawks spokesperson, Brigadier Mushavhaduvha Ramovha says the team tracked a container loaded with ecstasy powder worth an estimated R6.3 million and ecstasy tablets valued at R70 000 concealed in a consignment of furniture at the Cape Town Harbour.

The shipment was allegedly destined for a residence in Durbanville from Europe.

During a search at the house, the team confiscated approximately 1 kg of hydroponic cannabis with an estimated street value of R120 000, as well as cultivation equipment.
