Thirty-seven people were hospitalised on Wednesday night following an apparent food poisoning incident in Seawinds, on the Cape Flats.
ER24, Life Healthcare and Metro Services arrived in St Patrick Avenue shortly after ten pm to find a number of adults and children crowded around two informal homes.
ER 24's Russel Meiring says it's believed that a number of people had eaten from a community-cooked batch of food before they began experiencing stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting symptoms.
Medics assessed and treated 37 people, including several children, before transporting them to nearby clinics for urgent medical care.
Local authorities are investigating the incident.
