Carolina in Mpumalanga was the scene of two horrific criminal acts of domestic violence reported by police on Saturday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhuli, said a woman and her two sons were shot dead on Friday while her daughter is fighting for her life in hospital.
He said the husband was also found dead with a firearm next to his body.
“The horrific incident is believed to have been fuelled by domestic violence,” he said.
In the second incident reported from Nkanini township also in Carolina, a 35-year-old man set fire to his shack injuring his wife and their two children, aged 5 and 7.
They were rescued by neighbours and rushed to hospital for treatment.
Colonel Mdhuli said the man sustained burn wounds in the incident and is under police guard in hospital.
He is due to appear in court soon.
