A 76-year-old Kwazulu Natal man appeared in court for being in the possession of illegal firearms that included automatic rifles.
Police spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala, said the man was arrested in an intelligence-driven operation by members from Durban Public Order Police and King Cetshwayo Crime Intelligence Unit.
They raided a homestead in the Donda area at Ntambanana on Friday.
“Upon searching the house, police officers found two rifles, two shotguns, and two pistols. A total of 51 various rounds of ammunition were also found in the suspect’s possession,” Gwala said.
She said he appeared in court where he was remanded in custody until 2 December for a formal bail application.
