A 42-year-old suspect is expected to appear in court on Friday after police raided a cannabis cultivating farm in the rural area of Ceres in the Western Cape.

Police Spokesperson Zinzi Hani says the Hawks' South-African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) followed up on intel received about possible drug activity taking place in Bo-Swaarmoed.

He says police raided several areas where cannabis was cultivated and discovered three plantation plants in the process.

Hani says they also found 171 plants worth an estimated R171 000 as well as 80kg of dried dagga to the value of R89 834.

The suspect is detained on suspicion of conspiring to produce and distribute cannabis.

More arrests are imminent.
