The Democratic Alliance has welcomed the appointment of former Eastern Cape Education MEC, Stone Sizani, as the ANC's new parliamentary whip.
DA chief whip, Watty Watson, says he's looking forward to establishing good working relations with Sizani and his new deputy, Dorris Dlakude.
He says he hopes that the removal of Mathole Motshekga as the ANC chief whip will provide the opportunity to once again put the interests of parliament first.
He says during Motshekga's tenure this did not happen.
ANC secretary-general, Gwede Mantashe, said Motshekga was removed because he was not a member of the ruling party's national executive committee, a pre-condition for being chief whip which the ANC set in 2008.
