Democratic Alliance parliamentary leader Lindiwe Mazibuko said President Jacob Zuma must retract his comments that businesses which support the ANC will prosper.
Mazibuko said that she would be submitting parliamentary questions to Zuma so that he can explain whether the remarks reflect government policy.
If not, he will have to issue a formal retraction.
She said the remarks, made during the ANC's birthday gala dinner, have the potential to severely compromise the principle of good governance, which the constitutional democracy fundamentally depends on.
