The Democratic Alliance says some cabinet ministers appear to have a need for speed.
DA MP, James Lorimer, says Mining Minister, Susan Shabangu, appears to be in pole position having racked up traffic fines in excess of R64,000 between April 2009 and March this year.
Energy Minister, Dipuo Peter and Agriculture Minister, Tina Joemat-Petersen, are second and third with fines of 40 and 30-thousand rands respectively.
According to a reply to a parliamentary question, cabinet ministers have amassed traffic fines totalling R173,140 during this period.
