It is widely expected that Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille will announce a merger with Agang SA in Cape Town on Tuesday morning.
The DA has notified the media of a news conference by Zille, claiming it is in "national interest".
However, the party doesn't say much more in its notification.
Agang SA leader, Mamphela Ramphele, has told Beeld that South Africa is "hungry" for a change in politics.
Agang SA, which was launched about a year ago, said in a statement on its website on Sunday that rumours should be ignored that Ramphele was on the DA's list of candidates for election.
