Rescue operations were underway in various flooded parts of the northern coastal parts of KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday.
Co-operative governance MEC, Nomusa Dube says they are hard at work assisting people whose houses have been flooded by tropical cyclone, Irina.
She says plans are also being made to evacuate others to safety.
Dube says the provincial government is in the process of organising temporary housing units for displaced families.
