A 27-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Laingsburg Magistrates Court on Monday after 15 bags of crystal meth were found wrapped in recycling bags hidden in a compartment inside his vehicle.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says the man, who was travelling from Johannesburg was pulled over during a roadblock on Saturday on the N1 near Laingsburg.
He says members stopped and searched his silver vehicle when they discovered the 15 sealed bags of tik.
The drugs weighed 16 kilograms and are estimated to be worth R5.6 million
van Wyk says it is believed that the drugs were destined for Cape Town.
