The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country has risen to 202.
This was announced by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize on Friday who warned that because of the nature of the viral infection up to 60% of the population could ultimately be affected.
He was speaking in the Free State where the first confirmed cases in that province were reported at a school in Bloemfontein.
Mkhize says the situation does not mean that the country is facing an apocalypse.
He says we have seen how united action and determined and firm decisions have made a difference in some of the countries such as China.
Europe now appears to be the new epi-centre.
