COVID-19 deaths in SA reach 50 - more than 2 700 infected

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says COVID-19 has claimed 50 lives by Friday after two more deaths were recorded.

The minister says the total number of infections in the country now stands at 2 783.

The total number of tests conducted to date is 100 827.

Gauteng is still the epicentre in the country with 1,018 infections, followed by the Western Cape at 717 and KwaZulu-Natal with 591

The Eastern Cape has recorded 246 positive coronavirus cases.
