The North Gauteng high court on Monday granted President Cyril Ramaphosa an urgent interdict following an application to stay the remedial action in the Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane's Bosasa report.
This is related to the Bosasa investigation where Mkhwebane uncovered that funding for the CR17 campaign, which managed Ramaphosa's bid to become president of the ruling ANC, was mired in allegations of money laundering, based on the facts before her.
Mkhwebane detailed how a R500,000 donation by Bosasa's Gavin Watson made its way to the CR17 trust account, noting that it went through several intermediaries before landing in the campaign fund.
Mkhwebane, in her remedial action, ordered that Ramaphosa must disclose all the campaign’s funders in parliament.
Ramaphosa then decided to take Mkhwebane's report, in which it was found that he had violated the executive code of ethics, on urgent judicial review.
This ruling will now allow Ramaphosa to wait pending the judicial review of the report.
