Cape Town police confiscated abalone worth millions of rand when they responded to a house robbery in Mowbray.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut said while police were dealing with the alleged victims, officers noticed that the house was being used as an abalone processing plant.
Officers immediately searched the premises which lead to the discovery of abalone worth around R10 million, including equipment used to process abalone for export purposes.
A Man and woman who were arrested at the scene claimed that they were tied up by seven suspects who fled the scene with abalone.
They allegedly managed to free themselves and notified police.
The two will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates Court on Monday.
