A 40-year-old man was arrested by the Hawks in Mpumalanga after counterfeit takkies worth an estimated R2m were found on his truck.
Captain Dineo Sekgotodi said the truck driver was arrested on Saturday at the Lebombo border post on charges of contravening the Customs and Excise Act as well as the Counterfeit Goods Act.
She said the arrest members of the Hawks and Border Police stopped and searched the truck as it was entering South Africa from Mozambique.
The goods were found wrapped in bags in the large bins at the back of the vehicle and were taken for safekeeping.
Sekgotodi said the driver will appear in court in Komatipoort on Monday.
