A 49-year-old Free State man is in police custody after he was busted with counterfeit money worth over one hundred thousand rand.
A spokesperson for Police Sergeant Martin Xuma says the arrest in Botshabelo on Wednesday night was the result of an intelligence-driven operation.
He says the suspect was interrogated at his house and upon being searched police found R300 in counterfeit money in his possession.
Xuma says the search continued throughout his house where police found even more money.
An amount of R105 900 was found wrapped in a black refuse bag which was hidden inside an outside toilet.
A total amount of R107 300.00 in counterfeit money was confiscated.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Botshabelo Magistrates Court on Friday.
