Two Northern Cape police officers attached to the Kuruman crime prevention unit appeared in court on Tuesday on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.

The 37-year-old Sergeant Monageng Makoke and 31-year-old Constable Walter Setidisho, appeared in the Mothibistad Regional Court following their arrest on Monday.

Hawks spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Philani Nkwalase says they're alleged to be involved in a syndicate using police blue lights to stop and rob motorists.

He says these incidents allegedly occurred on the N14 near Kuruman, between July and August last year.

Nkwalase says their case was postponed to next Tuesday for a formal bail application.

He also says more arrests are imminent.
