A 49-year-old police officer accused of killing her son and his girlfriend, was granted bail of R2,000 after appearing in the Morebeng magistrate’s court on two counts of murder.
The National Prosecuting Authority said Sergeant Constance Sathekge, of Botlokwa SAPS appeared in court on Wednesday.
NPA spokesperson, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, said during the bail hearing the court noted that there was no likelihood of her interfering with the investigation or evading trial.
Furthermore, the court considered that she is the primary carer for her four-year-old son who has special needs.
Malabi-Dzhangi said Sathekge is accused of shooting her son, Khotso, and his girlfriend, Naledi, following an altercation on 13 February.
He died on the scene while the girlfriend died later in hospital.
The NPA said the case against police officer was postponed to 24 April.
