CIT suspects appear in court in Gauteng

File

Three suspected cash-in-transit robbers are to appear in the Pretoria North and Temba Magistrates on Monday, on charges of cash-in-transit robbery, possession of an illegal firearm as well as ammunition, and possession of a hijacked motor vehicle.

The Hawks said that the suspects were arrested on 24 July 2024 in an intelligence-driven operation by a multi-disciplinary team.

Colonel Katlego Mogale said the suspects, aged 69, 39, and 37 were arrested at several locations around Makapanstad.

“The team also recovered a rifle with its serial number filed off, and two vehicles, a white Peugeot and a silver Audi A4 which is purported to have been used in criminal activities.

“The firearm will be sent for ballistic testing to ascertain its involvement in other crimes in the Pretoria area,” he said.

Mogale said the suspects were wanted for cases in Aksia and Makapanstad and the Hawks were not ruling out the possibility of more arrests as the investigation continues.
