Six suspects are remanded in custody following their arrest over the weekend for allegedly smuggling illicit cigarettes worth R12 million into the country.
The men appeared in the Marble Hall Magistrates Court in Limpopo on Monday where the case was remanded until February.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malasela Ledwaba says the suspects were intercepted after police received information about suspects who were busy offloading cigarettes from a gas tanker into cargo trucks.
He says the tanker and trucks were parked on a farm in Toitskraal.
Colonel Ledwaba says the tanker was from Musina and was being escorted by a white Toyota Auris, while the two cargo trucks were from Gauteng.
The men will be back in court on the 6th of February.
