Four suspects are expected to appear in the Mdutjana Magistrate's Court in Mpumalanga on Monday following their arrest for allegedly kidnapping two children during a house robbery at Siyabuswa on Thursday.
Spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi says the victims, aged 11 and 14, whose father is a businessman, were kidnapped and taken to a house in Limpopo.
The kidnappers then phoned the parents to ask for a ransom.
He says the suspects stole some items from the victim's house and also fled in one of their vehicles.
Brigadier Hlathi says the family vehicle was abandoned not far from the house before the children were transported in a different car to a house in Limpopo.
The father immediately reported the matter to the police and a special team was assembled who found out where the children were held, hostage.
On Friday police swooped in on the property, arrested the four suspects between the ages of 21 and 50, and rescued the children.
