Police in Polokwane are investigating a case of murder after a 12-year-old boy shot his brother with his father's firearm.
Spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo says the 53-year-old father, who is a former security guard, allegedly left his bag in one of the rooms, which gave the boy access to the gun.
He says the mother hear a gunshot and rushed to the scene where she found her three year old badly injured.
The toddler was rushed to hospital and declared dead upon arrival.
Mojapelo says the 12-year-old will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
