Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan says there are still areas in the mining sector that need further dialogue.
Gordhan told the Mining Lekgotla in Sandton on Tuesday that its the responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure that the very stable labour relations the country had at a time, are re-established in some sense.
"This is an area were we believe we do require stability. We require changes that are acceptable to all the parties concerned. Most importantly we require a period of peace, where we can reflect on what got us to August last year and what is it that we need to do as each of the role players, some of which is indicated in the framework agreement, that most of us have signed except one." says Gordhan
Meanwhile, Solidarity has asked the Chamber of Mines for more time to consult its members about the new wage offer made by gold producers.
Gold mining companies have offered a basic increase of 6.5%.
The offer has been rejected by the National Union of Mineworkers.
