An estimated 72-thousand Numsa members at petrol stations, panel beaters and the automotive component sector will go on strike from next Monday.
Numsa says the mediation process facilitated by an independent mediator last month failed to resolve the wage impasse between the union and the employer bodies - being the Fuel Retailers Association and the Retail Motor Industry Organisation.
The union says the two employer bodies rejected their demands.
Meanwhile, Numsa's office bearers convened a special auto national shopstewards council meeting today to discuss a revised wage offer tabled by auto manufacturers, represented by the Automobile Manufacturers Employers Organisation, Ameo.
