The carcasses of two of the six Rhino translocated from the Addo Elephant Park to Chad earlier this year have been found in the Zakouma National Park.
Sanparks and the Republic of Chad confirmed in a joint statement that to carcasses were found.
The Rhinos arrived in Chad on the 4th of May and were kept in Bomas for two months, before temporarily being released in a sanctuary for another two months.
The Rhinos were among a group of six black rhino translocated to Chad from South Africa in May 2018 to bring the species back to Zakouma National Park after almost a 50-year absence.
The animals were loaded onto an Antonov plane, which took off from Port Elizabeth.
They were accompanied by a team of vets, to look after them during the 15-hour flight.
The other four animals have been confirmed to still be alive and are being closely monitored.
Authorities will now do an autopsy on the dead animals to determine the cause of death.
