The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) says an extensive search operation for the six fishermen who went missing at Hout Bay and Hawston at the weekend, continues.
NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon says it is believed that the fishermen from Cape Town were onboard an inflatable boat and fishing on Saturday noon and evening before finding themselves in trouble.
News of the missing fishermen broke on Sunday after concerned family members of the fishermen alerted the NSRI that the men did not return home.
"A search grid plotting over deep sea South and South West of Cape Point has not yielded any positive results. Our thoughts are with the families, colleagues and friends of the missing men during this difficult time," says Lambinon.
"As yet the search yielded no signs of the missing men and their craft," he added.
The families have since opened a missing persons report for their loved ones.
The extended search continues.
