The body of a female Grade 10 learner from Hoërskool Garsfontein in Pretoria has been discovered on the school's rugby field.
Gauteng MEC for Education Matome Chiloane says the school's security found the body of 16-year-old Mia Kühn on the rugby field on Tuesday morning.
He said earlier that it was unclear how she ended up on the school property, since it is the school holidays.
It was also unclear how Kühn had died, but Chiloane said the Department had called upon the police to urgently apprehend the suspect or suspects.
He said the parents of the deceased would be afforded all the necessary support.
