North West police arrested three Basotho nationals for the murder of three of their countrymen in Kinana near Orkney.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Adéle Myburgh, said the arrests were a sequel to a brawl at a tavern between several Basotho nationals last Saturday.
She said five men were subsequently kidnapped and taken to Schoonspruit River where they were assaulted.
Myburgh said one person managed to escape before four others were thrown into the river.
Three drowned while one survived after making it to the riverbank.
She said Kanana police worked around the clock to identify and arrest four men for the triple murder of three males between the ages of 25 and 38.
Myburgh said police divers recovered the bodies of the three men between Sunday and Tuesday.
She said the suspects were remanded in custody until Monday for a formal bail application.
