Bad weather over Gauteng may have been a factor in the plane crash at Lanseria Airport which claimed the lives of three people on Monday morning.
Airport spokesperson, Claudette Vianello, says its further speculated that the crash on the embankment opposite the runway could have been due to the pilot trying to avoid hitting a building.
Vianello says the pilot, flying the Beechcraft King Air BE90 twin-engine aircraft, was in contact with the control tower before the crash, adding that the plane burst into flames on impact.
Rescue workers have extracted the bodies from the wreckage.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.
