Madiba's will read out in Johannesburg

Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke says former president Nelson Mandela's wife Graca Machel has 90 days to decide whether she will waiver her right to half of his estate.

He read out Mandela's will on Monday and said Machel had not yet given her decision.

The provisional assessment of Mandela's estate is about R46-million.

He bequeathed R1.5 million to the NRM Family Trust and also left royalties to the trust of which a percentage would be given to the African National Congress.

Mandela bequeathed R50,000 each to a number of personal staff, including Zelda la Grange, his former personal assistant.

Madiba left money to a number of schools and organisations.

Wits University, Qunu Secondary School and Orlando West High School in Soweto bequeathed R100,000 from the anti-apartheid icon.

Fort hare University near Alice was also bequethed 100-thousand rand, for which its vice chancellor Mvuyo Tom is very grateful.
