The Western Cape nature conservation authority has allayed fears that hundreds of free roaming crocodiles have been caught on a farm in the Southern Cape.
Reports are doing the rounds, creating the impression that permits have been issued for the fearsome reptiles to be caught and exported.
CapeNature's conservation services manager in the region, Barend le Roux, said that a permit was issued late last year for hundreds of crocodiles to be moved to Limpopo province.
However, le Roux said that it was for crocodiles which were being kept in camps on a crocodile farm, and NOT free-roaming reptiles.
