A nine-year jail sentence imposed on Australian petrol-bomber Shumsheer Ghumman has been reduced to four years on appeal by the Western Cape High Court.
Judge Anton Veldhuizen overturned Ghumman's convictions on charges of fraud and incitement to commit murder on Wednesday.
Ghumman is serving jail time for petrol-bombing the Clifton home of businessman Philip Rhind.
He had a platonic relationship with Rhind's daughter Hannah and became obsessed with her.
The Cape Times reports that the other two charges on which he was convicted, attempted murder and malicious damage to property, still stood.
