At least 23 people have been arrested in Kwa Zulu Natal during violent protests across the province.
Several vehicles were stoned while damage totaling millions of rands was caused.
It is believed that the protests, which erupted in the early hours of Friday morning, were in response to the incarceration of former president Jacob Zuma.
Police spokesperson, Jay Naicker says there were protests across the province on Friday night where people were blocking the roads, burning tyres, and setting debris alight
He says in some incidents people remove the keys of trucks and parked them on major intersections to disrupt traffic.
Naicker says at Mooi River Toll Plaza, community members had rolled burning tyres onto the road and as a result, a number of trucks caught alight and the road was closed.
Seven people were arrested at the scene.
The N3 Toll Concession confirmed on Saturday that 23 trucks, including a tanker and a car carrier, were torched.
