At least 16 people were killed in a horror accident between a truck and several vehicles on the N3 near Pietermaritzburg on Saturday morning.
Transport and Community Safety spokesperson, Kwanele Ncalane says a truck lost control in the early hours of Saturday and collided with several other vehicles, including a taxi.
While the exact details are still being investigated, the taxi is believed to have been traveling from Johannesburg to Harding, south of Durban.
Ncalane says all 15 fatalities are believed to have been from the minibus taxi.
One person, a 7-year-old boy, survived.
"At this stage, it is still difficult to verify some of the details," Ncalane said.
